william henry sanderson
« on: Tuesday 18 July 06 12:55 BST (UK) »
I am helping a friend do his family tree and keep hitting brick walls. I have only been able to find the family on the 1901 census and the 1881 census.
1901 census
William h Sanderson born 1855 in Goole
Elizabeth Sanderson born 1860 in Hook
plus 3 children
all living at 52 South street Goole

1881
Elizabeth a Sanderson wife
Hannah h Walker boarder
living at Capston street Hook

I have seen the marriage certificate they married march 10th 1879
Elizabeth a Brooks nee Wilson ( young widow) fathers name John Wilson

William h Sanderson fathers name John Sanderson

I have looked at all the other census and can't find them the nearest i found was in the 1861 and 1871 census a Annie Elizabeth Wilson born 1860 in Hook as you see the names are the opposite way round but the birth year and place are spot on. there is no fathers name in the census. I haven't been able to match a William with a father John
If there is anybody who can give me a tiny hint it will be very much appreciated.

Hi Carolanne,

I'm sorry but I haven't found them on the census yet, but I have found these two births which may help,

Elizabeth Ann WILSON  Dec Q  1860  GOOLE  v.9c  p.498

Ann Elizabeth WILSON  Dec Q  1860  GOOLE  v.9c  p.496

and the IGI has this,

Elizabeth Ann WILSON  Chr. 16 Dec 1860  Goole, Yorkshire
Father: John WILSON
Mother: Elizabeth

What are the occupations of the fathers and who are the witnesses on the wedding cert? It may help find them.

Regards
Daisy

hi daisy
thanks for that info i've been looking till i could see spots in front of my eyes it always helps to get a fresh pair of eyes.
the witness's if i have read it right are a samuel corfman and the mark of a harriet lister.
the marriage certificate does not give the fathers profession only the grooms and he was a sailor i have wondered maybe thats why i can't find him on some of the census.
the igi info looks a good match its the right name and birth year and fathers name thanks very much
