Dolman's Farm / Cohen's Cottages
« on: Monday 13 October 14 16:40 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone!

I am hoping for a bit of luck with locating Cohen's Cottages, Kalk Bay, Cape Town (where my husband's great uncle died as a baby) and Dolman's Farm, Lakeside, Cape Town (where he was to be buried / interred).

I have "googled" both locations and come up with nothing....

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately I cannot find much, but think that it was Dolmen's farm not Dolman's farm just looking at the writing.

I also think that it was probably in the Muizenburg area which is very close to Kalk Bay.  There is currently a suburb there called Lakeside.

Kalk Bay was/is a really small area and I would think that the cottages might have been owned by a Cohen, and not necessarily named 'Cohen's Cottages' per se.  My aunt lived there and her place was always referred to as Lily's cottage although it was not named that!

Will carry on searching!

I have found that there is a Kalk Bay Historical Association which you could consider contacting.

I also found a very interesting site www.awhaleofaheritageroute.co.za  If you click on A - Z of history it makes for fascinating reading.
