The Mr Lampard that went back with them was born about 1867

Wonder if it is Ben's brother, William

Why do we think Arthur & Myrtle took anyone back with them?  It's only the two of them on the outward list. Mr Lampard of Thames Ditton was just their UK contact.

Sorry - Im misleading everyone then!
I thought he was a passenger with them! (I should know better, and look at the original document myself, not rely on my 'mis'understanding of what was said about it)

Apologies all round!

So, the Mr Lampard is not aged 87? He just lives at 87 Summer Street . . . . :-[

Only goes to show  how easily we can get on the wrong track.

I genuinely took Keyboards info in reply#1 to read as 3 passengers as follows

Arthur Lampard age 59 occ contract, residing in the Uk
And
Mr Lampard (age) 87 of Summer str Thames Ditton
And
Myrtle age 57

SILLY ME!
Just ignore all my posts about the Mr Lampard!

:) ;)

Actually when I said it was just the two of them on the outbound voyage I was wrong in that (as keyboard has already pointed out) Julie was also on it, albeit listed separately.

But no 87-yr-old travelling with them...

I think Benjamin died 1929 Reigate.

He did, aged 66, and was buried at St Michael, Betchworth on 20 Feb 1929. Abode: St John's, Redhill.

My problem is trying to tie the 1901 census to Arthur who married Myrtle Pickering. No mother on the marriage cert is a real problem

Helpfully, though, it does say on the marriage cert that he was born in Surrey and that his father was Ben.

So do I assume that the 1901 family is mine and get the Fred Lampard birth cert? I hate these kind of assumptions
Pickering E Yorkshire, Ontario Can
Tindall Greater London
Edmonds Greater London
Bayliss Greater London
Chappell Somerset
Spencer Warwickshire
Tuck Wiltshire
Tanner Wiltshire

I think in this case it's a fair inference rather than an assumption.

It's hard to see how to get any better proof at this stage, though if you're lucky you may be able to link Fred to the Thames Ditton address used as Arthur & Myrtle's base for their visit to the UK.

The possible death for Fred (as Frederick) Lampard in 1957 from keyboard's reply #3 may help as the district is Surrey Northern which included Thames Ditton.
