Hi all,
Just discovered this & am rather bemused by it! Hope someone is able to help me understand what's going on!
I found Jane's burial at St John's Brindley Heath nr Godstone, taking place on 7th Nov 1890. The original record clearly shows that it is 1890. I then decided to check to see if there was a will & there was. This is where things started to get a little odd! The probate proved on 28th Feb 1890 gives a date of death for Jane as 2nd Nov 1889! The death index record shows for 1889 as well, all be it in the Sevenoaks reg dist in Kent, where she was evidently visiting her brother in law Henry & his wife Susannah in Brasted in Kent.
What's going on? What happened? Was it really a year between death & burial? If so, why?
This family had so much tragedy in their lives. Jane lost 2 children & her husband between 1862 & 1864. One child a daughter Alice Jane was left alone in the world with her mother's death in 1890 & is the executrix of Jane's will.
Hope someone can help with this.
Kind regards
David
