Not sure how you can prove the informtion as there are few connecting records back then, but if you have an age when he died, a guessimate or proof of age when married and just looking at Etwell
John Goldsmith birth:    23 May 1720    christening:    24 May 1720    EWELL,SURREY Parents Edward and Dina

and there are later marriages which may or may not be your family
John Goldsmith marriage: 14 November 1767    Ewell,Surrey to a Mary Shepherd
and a
John Goldsmith marriage:    5 October 1762    Ewell,Surrey to a Mary Goldsmith

As Etwell borders Epsom and Cuddington lots of  people at that time would have married/baptised in those too even if they resided in Etwell, so you may need to look at their parish records

Baptisms
Edward Goldsmith 27 May 1747 St Mary the Virgin Etwell parents John /Jane

There are several children bap to an Edward and Mary in Etwell but I think there are two Edwards and Mary's, so no idea how to sort one family from another

Marriages
Edward Goldsmith 7 May 1765 St. Mary Long Ditton Surrey Elizabeth Eade both bride and groom of Cuddington wit:Thomas Sanders and John Harris Lic. Bride & groom made their marks. Cuddington being a place without a parish church.
Leicestershire:Chamberlain, Dakin, Wilkinson, Moss, Cook, Welland, Dobson, Roper,Palfreman, Squires, Hames, Goddard, Topliss, Twells,Bacon.
Northamps:Sykes, Harris, Rice,Knowles.
Rutland:Clements, Dalby, Osbourne, Durance, Smith,Christian, Royce, Richardson,Oakham, Dewey,Newbold,Cox,Chamberlaine,Brow, Cooper, Bloodworth,Clarke
Durham/Yorks:Woodend, Watson,Parker, Dowser
Suffolk/Norfolk:Groom, Coleman, Kemp, Barnard, Alden,Blomfield,Smith,Howes,Knight,Kett,Fryston
Lincolnshire:Clements, Woodend

You are right Sharon01 :)

I made a big mistake in my message :-[

It should read the children of Edward and Diana (Dinah Dina etc) GOLDSMITH

they had two Johns
1) John Goldsmith Male 24 May 1720 EWELL,SURREY,ENGLAND 23 May 1720
2) John Goldsmith Male 17 Aug 1734 EWELL,SURREY,ENGLAND

Also the marriage of Edward Goldsmith and Mary Thatcher should be married on 22 May 1756 in Ewell, Surrey. Mary Thatcher was born 1732 in Ewell, Surrey.

I have been researching this family for many years, but I am still not sure that I have got it right. This Edward Goldsmith was bapt 1700 in Ewell and had three wives:  Dinah, buried in 1741, Mary Murmoth, widow, in 1754, when he is described as aged 55, widower, farmer of Cuddington, and Elizabeth Ede in 1765.  All of his children were by Dinah. He left a will in 1773 in which he mentioned, amongst others, his late son Edward, Edward's wife Mary, and their children Mary, Diana, Elizabeth, Susannah, Ann, Thomas and William. There is/was an M.I. in Ewell churchyard to Edward the son, 1770 aged 49, and also to Dinah the wife in 1741 (no details). I have more if it is of interest.

An amendment to the above - Edward the son was buried in Apr 1773 (not 1770), two months before his father. Admon was granted but there is no will.

Dinah Goldsmith married my 7th great grandfather John Matthews, I believe the name Dinah is Hebrew/Middle Eastern which means “judged” or “vindicated” I’m pretty sure the Goldsmith family are Romany, do you have any information on the family history? Thanks
