 I have the date of birth of James Hay 10th feb, 1793, Banchory- Ternon Kincardineshire and also his death 1866. married Martha Skene.
 I would like to know the names of his parents if possible

Hi Marcia, if James died in Scotland you will be able to view his death certificate on scotlandspeople website. His parents names should appear on it. If you are unfamiliar with Scottish records you can read all about it in the rootschat help section. Hope this helps,
