I don't see anything in the state-wide marriage database https://wwwnet1.state.nj.us/DOS/Admin/ArchivesDBPortal/Marriage1867.aspx

I found the A'Court family arriving in New Zealand in 1879 and am sure you have all the details of their lives and family thereafter. I note that Francis A'Court was a carpenter and I found an 1871 US census record which may be relevant although the first name is wrong :

in Plainfield , Union , New Jersey in the household of Samuel Vail

John Acourtt 22 carpenter b England
Frances Acourtt  19 b England

I haven't found a marriage or births of their children and I can't find their arrival either.

Not much help , I'm afraid ! Are you able to order  a certificate for any of the children born in NZ so that you could find out Frances' name ?

Sorry - I meant , of course , 1870 not 1871 !

I managed to access the WW1 service record for Leonard A'Court via the above link. It gives his parents as Francis Charles A'Court  , born Mar(?)ook , Somersetshire and Frances Sarah A'Court nee Wilson , born East Lyn , Norfolk , resident in NZ for 37 years.

Hope this is of interest - at least you now have Frances' maiden name.

It gives his parents as Francis Charles A'Court  , born Mar(?)ook , Somersetshire

I suspect the town may be Martock, Somerset.  Francis is living there in 1861 and listed as born Galhampton, Martock.

Gosh, thanks so much everyone. Have been away for 24 hours and you have done all the work.

I had found on familysearch a female and a male birth in Essex, Newark and was hoping that there was something more definite.

According to a notice published for their golden wedding they were married in New Jersey in 1870. I found a reference somewhere that said that Frances Sarah was from England but wasn't sure of him.

Thanks very much everyone for your enormous help  ;D
