No Birth Record - Richard Thomas?

I am looking for a birth, parish or non-conformist record for my great grandfather, Richard Thomas, born approx 1846 – 1850 in Llanddarog or Llanarthney, Carmarthenshire.  Father, Thomas Thomas, a farmer (mother's name possibly Sarah).  I know a little about him after his marriage to Elizabeth Davies in 1878 but can find nothing on his birth.  On his gravestone in St David’s, Pembs his age at death on 4 August 1914 is given as 64 and his full name as Richard 'Darrog' Thomas.  Any help would be appreciated.

There is an online tree that has Richard. They give his parents as Thomas Thomas  1803-1876 and Sarah Lewis.

They dont have his birth either but have him in the 1851 Wales census. Although Thomas isn't on there, Sarah gives herself as married.
