Tricky.  The only thing the name links to is a Marianne Hodder christened 27 April 1851 parents William and Louisa.

Fanny does name a daughter Louise but  :-\

I don't see a Fanny or a Marianne with William and Louisa on a census.

There is a Mary A Hodder living as a niece with the following family in 1861 at Higher Eype, Symondsbury, but it's a fair distance from Wareham

James Hallett 46 Ag Lab
Eliza Hallett 47
Tabitha Hallett 23
Mary A Hodder    11 b Eype, Symondsbury, Dorset

Hi,

Do you have the marriage certificate for Fanny to confirm her father is William? If so what is his occupation and who are the witnesses?

With reference to the previous posts -This would appear to be William and Louise on the 1861 the baptism details for William and Dan correspond to that of Marianne Hodder -

William Hodder   32 b. Symondsbury, Dorset
Louisa Hodder   40 b. Symondsbury, Dorset
William Hodder   9 b. Symondsbury, Dorset
Dan Hodder   6 b. Symondsbury, Dorset

RG 9 Piece 1369 Folio 22 Page 4, Symondsbury, Dorset.

However there is a burial record St Peters Symondsbury, Dorset on 7 Aug 1874 for a Mary Ann Hodder aged 22, Eype.

I think Fanny could have been born  Fanny Searley in Sep Qtr 1850 Wareham &c Vol 8 Page 123.  There is a baptism of a Fanny Searley on 11 Aug 1850 at  East Stoke, Dorset with mother Eliza Searley

In 1851 there was a William Hodder single age 20 Blacksmith living in Wareham with father Thomas Hooder 46 Blacksmith, mother Ann Hodder 59 and Charles Hodder 15 all born Wareham

By Dec Qtr 1861 William Hodder married Elizabeth Searley Wareham 5a 643 (Edit -Her residence listed as East Stoke and father Robert Searley Woodsman)
I think this is the family in 1871. Living at East Street Wareham

William Hodder 40 b Wareham Blacksmith employing 3 men and 2 boys
Eliza Hodder 43 b East Stoke Dorset
Tom Hodder 8
Charles Hodder 6
Harry Hodder 4

I think Fanny could well have been living with her grandparents in 1861 with the surname mistranscribed at Highwood East Stoke Dorset. Her mother Eliza was working as a servant at the time

Robert Teasley 62 Labourer b Highwood
Mary Teasley 60 b Combe
Henry Teasley 20
Fanny Teasley 10 Granddaughter
Margret Teasley    85 Grandmother widow b Highwood

WOW youve been busy Kay,,Yes that would make sense not being able to find on births register..she obviously took the step fathers name..of Hodder..I am awaiting the fathers occupation from marriage cert and maybe witnesses..

I will have a look about see I can link with details I already have albeit just a few.
Thank you so very much
Sandra ;)

If you have access to the family trees on Anc..try there is a well documented tree for both sides of the family although it doesn't make the connection between Eliza and Fanny, but does list Fanny as a grandchild of Robert Searley

Good Luck Kay
