William DOBELL, Excise officer
« on: Wednesday 05 February 14 06:59 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to locate the birth/baptism of William DOBELL, Excise officer who ;
  first married Elizabeth SIMPSON on the 6th December 1761 at Sennen, Cornwall,
  next married Jane TONKIN on the 12th January 1779 at St Buryan, Cornwall.

A very convenient baptism is of a William DOBEL on the 26th Jun 1735 at Ashburton, Devon, the son of Daniel DOBEL [and Elizabeth IRELAND].

As per William DOBELL’s Will - “unto my daughter Martha now the wife of James BONAMY in the County of Devon and town of Ashburton the sum of five Guineas”.

By the marriage of his daughter Martha, William DOBELL certainly had a connection with Ashburton.

I am trying to locate something else, to satisfy myself that I have the correct baptism.

Can anyone help me please.

Regards
Grantley

Thank you Graham,

I live in South Australia and I am restricted to online searches. So far I haven't found anything else that links my William DOBELL, back to Ashburton.

Similarly, I haven't found the fate of William DOBEL, born 1735, the son of Daniel.

Grantley
