Murdoch Rosie burial location
« on: Tuesday 16 October 07 23:35 BST (UK) »
Greetings to all. I am new to the list, and am hoping some kind soul can help me.
I have been looking for the burial site of my 2x Great Grandfather Murdoch Rosie. Here is what I have been able to find:
Murdoch Rosie b. abt 1804
                       d. 12/3/1873 Wick
Married to Christina Wilson b. 31/10/1809
                                         d. 7/4/1874 Wick
From his statutory death record, his last residence was Breadalbane Terrace,Pulneytown,Wick.
I hope that someone can guide me to his final resting place. I am also very sure that if I can find him, I can also find some of the other Rosie family buried in the area. Thanks for your time.
  Steve

If his last address was breadalbane Terr the best bet is that he is buried in the old part of Wick cemetery
i am not sure if the Monumental Inscriptions but will check, if i can find my books

Any help I can receive would be greatly appreciated Frank.
Very interesting about your Rosie's from Stroma. Any connections to Murdoch Rosie and Margaret Jack from the island? Or their children:
  David b. Mar 8, 1769 Stroma
  Jean b. Feb 12, 1770 Stroma
  Marjory b. Oct 26, 1771 Stroma
  Allexander b. Sept 27, 1774
  Margaret b. Jan 24, 1777 Stroma
  Christian b. Aug 21, 1779
  Bessye b. Jul 6, 1782

I also have another branch of Rosie's marrying into this family, if anything sounds promising , please let me know.
  Regards,
    Steve

It was brought to my attention that Christina Wilson's birthdate did not make sense. Thankyou for pointing it out. It should read:
   Christina Wilson b. Oct 31,1809

Sorry for the confusion, my typo, and I have corrected it in the first post.

The street exists today I'm sure.  If you could narrow down the address, I might be able to get some photos.

OK - When I get a chance.  Incidentally, there are nearly 20 Rosies in the UK phonebook listing for Wick. I wonder if .....?

Have you seen these: http://www.caithness.org/atoz/wick/breadalbanecres/breadalbanecrescent.htm

Thanks for those links James. Any info I can gather is great. May I ask how Breadalbane Terrace and Crescent are linked location wise? And are there any detailed maps that I can get my hands on?
