It would appear that there's a few 'Berries' buried in St. Ninian's Old Churchyard, none of the names match up with the names above, but it may be a branch of the same family?

Hi Ladybird,
In response to your question on where did I get the Stevenson children's names: I received the information from the St. Ninians Census in 1841 and again in 1851. The 1841 Census starts off with "Muir of Bannockburn" where the families address would normally appear. (I'm not sure what that means). Then it lists Peter Stevenson age 50, Jean Stevenson age 40 (I believe this is Jane Berry), then lists William age 16, David age 14, Robert age 12, Agnes age 9, Janet age 6 and Peter age 3 (my g/g/grandfather Peter was born in Bannockburn sometime in 1837). The Census notes all were born in Stirlingshire.

The 1851 St. Ninians Census listed the family address of "New Town", John only is listed (Jean must have passed on) and only 3 of the previous kids: William 27, Robert 23, Agnes 20, and Peter 13. (with David and Janet missing). This Census lists all were born in St. Ninians.
Merry Christmas and All the Best for 2010,  sjme

Hi Ann,

Thanks for the Old Churchyard information, its very interesting (is it the only Churchyard of that time?). You're probably right about the Berries listed, they are likely relatives of the Jane Berry I'm looking for. Maybe they'll tie-in somewhere when I find out more about her ancestors; who knows. I'll hope for the best in my searching in 2010.

Merry Christmas and All the Best in 2010, sjme

To my knowledge St. Ninian's Old and St. Ninian's New Churchyards are the only ones in that area from that time.

In Stirling itself there's Holy Rude Kirkyard and Erskine Churchyard (Only a couple of miles away)

David,
Peter Stevenson and Elizabeth Campbell's 1st son John did not marry Agnes Hillcoat.  John, Born 19 May 1860 (my grandfather), married Elizabeth Wilson Devon on March 06, 1891 in Motherwell, Dalzeil, Lanarkshire and had 8 children named: Peter, Charlotte, Robert, Elizabeth, John, Lucy, James (my father) and Catherine.
John died in Motherwell Scotland on January 02, 1922. Elizabeth died in August 1923 at Whiting Bay on the Isle of Arran, Lanark

Further, John and Jane Berry are John's correct grandparents and their children you show are correct. However, Peter and Elizabeth had 14 children not 7.
The children you missed are: Helen 1864; Janet 1872;  Elizabeth 1874; William 1874; Elizabeth 1876; Catherine 1878; Robert 1880 and Alexander 1881.
