« on: Thursday 17 April 14 19:20 BST (UK) »
Hi there ive had some photos sent from a relative they are both of my second great grandfather born 1867, the army one is dated around 1918 he was around 50 years old can someone confirm the other man to be the same man and a estimate on age/date thankyou
ps the non army one must be before the army photo as it has his wife next to him who died in 1916 sadly this is how the photo has survived

Hi,

I have attached copy of your photograph's combined together, and I cannot see any similarity.

I placed Army hat on the civilian, but they look worlds apart.

Hope this helps you.

Kind regards

Hi, I think the nose and chin are too dissimilar to be the same man.

You need to go back a generation.
The bit of the woman on display shows a distinctive mid-late 1880's bodice.

Thanks everyone, Jim you have answered my question, it could only be one of two men my second great grandfather 1867-1938 who is in the army photo, or his father in law my third great grandfather john coleman who lived 1843-1889 who was killed by getting hit by a train nd cut to pieces what a tragic death for this man in the photo. If mid to late 1880s very close to the time her died, he was 46 years old would you say he looks about this in the photo?

Hi, yes I would say the man in photo 2 looks to be in his 40's.  What a tragic death, very sad.
