Dunbartonshire MI pre 1855
« on: Tuesday 26 October 10 01:08 BST (UK) »
My apologies if anyone else has posted this...

I've recently obtained a copy of the above MI.

I'd be happy to check it for you.  Might take a few days to get back to you but I WILL respond.

It's very comprehensive but I know it is incomplete - a friend found one of 'mine' in Cumbernauld that is not recorded.

It covers:

Alexandria
Arrocher
Bonhill
Cardross
Cumbernauld
Dumbarton
Faslane
Gartshore Quaker
Helensburgh
Kilmahew(Cardross)
Kilmarnock (NOT AYRSHIRE)
Kirkintilloch - Auld Isle/cemetery/St Mary's/Orchard
Luss
New Kilpatrick
Old Kilpatrick
Renton
Rhu
Rosneath
Tarbet
Vale of Leven

I was wondering if you could have a look to see if there are any McAdams in Bonhill or Kilmaronock?

Thanks for offering to do this.

Kind regards,
Caroline

Nothing in Bonhill.
1 entry in Kilmaronock Churchyard:

Page 89 number 50
I can send map of churchyard if you wish to visit (PM email address)
The entry in the mi book is as follows:

"(FS behind 57) WM   1714; Jas McAdam in Ardoch 11.1.1752  70: Walter M. in Portnellan 6.2.1799  69"

Book is quite well indexed so not difficult to locate surnames if you want me to look at other sites in Dunbartonshire.

Might take me 10 minutes longer!
Whiskey involved!  ::)
Just spent a few minutes looking for my pencil - it was in my mouth!
Silly I know, but it took me longer to realise 'cos I couldn't find my spectacles - they were on ma head.

Only part of this is true.  I'll tell you which part once I've filled my glass, assuming I can find it.

Hi jette,
Sorry - no Lamond in Bonhill.

There is 1 Lamont....   (page 14 , number 18)

"John Lamont in Tamidow, w Jean Anderson 30 05 1809  45"

Any interest?

Dave
