I can't see a German wearing a hat like that. Then, now, or ever  :P

I spent 9 years in Germany and they do. When hunting out there they are traditionalists and still wear basically what they did for many years. It's like a uniform, most of them are also members of the local shooting club. Each club wears a distinctive dress, all the same.

I don't remember ever seeing a German in a bowler or a Derby as the Americans call it.

I was always going to buy a hat but in the long run, another couple of the local Pils was more important.
