hi BR  :)

i take it that there is nothing on her death cert.
looking at the 1841 census age given as 35 so allowing for rounding down
possibly born before 1807
i see a son samuel kirkpatrick in 1841 age 5
how about this(IGI) -
jean affleck born 19th june 1804 ruthwell dumfries
parents sammuell affleck and agnes reed

??? jane kirkpatrick(other surname affleck) died torthorwald dumfries 1866
        born c1804

is this the same person ?

Is anyone still interested in this thread? I'm particularly interested in Sam.'s sister Betty and her spouse John Scott.

Is the MI of any interest ? The Source is the Gilchrist/Shannon Ruthwell graveyard survey of the 1960s.
Thomas, Robert and Samuel, sons of John SCOTT in Shawfoot:
Thomas, died at Braehill May 10th 1817 age 17 years
Robert, at Braehill July 21st 1819 age 24 years
Samuel, at Shawfoot September 22nd 1824 age 16 years

Also above John SCOTT, who died at Carrutherstown 13th September 1850 age 79 years
Also Elizabeth AFFLECK, wife of above John SCOTT, who died at Carrutherstown 7th March 1853 age 81 years

Cheers,
Sy

Thanks Sy, photos of both stones had already been passed on to me. Their son also John Scott moved south to Gloucester and Liverpool where I lose him and wife after the 1861 census. It would be good to be able to locate their origins. Do you have any connections with them or the Drinkwaters?

Thank you Sy, have just picked up. I was hoping to get 4 or 5 generations of John Scott's ancestors. I have some of his surviving children.
