Death of Catherine/Kate Nicholls Neath
« on: Wednesday 02 July 14 17:45 BST (UK) »
Hello

My great great grandmother Kate Nicholls married William Watkins in 1882. She is listed as being 20 years old. She was born in Cornwall and lived in Neath until her death

Could someone please help find her death date?

my thanks

Kate Nicholls doesn't yield anything but there was a Catherine L Nicholls died Swansea district Q3 1921 age 59. Does the 'L' help? Toby.

I doubt it my friend. There isn't a middle name on the marriage record or census, meaning she likely didnt have one. Plus she lived in Neath all her life

Thats not her.

If it helps, she was still alive in 1911 and was living in Neath. Her birth year was stated as 1864, not 1862

She is listed as Kate on all of the records, but it is possible she was listed as Catherine  :)

Then you have a further choice:-
Catherine Watkins died Neath area   Q1 1926 age 63     or
                                                    Q3 1930 age 66     or
                                                    Q2 1943 age 78     or
Kate Watkins died Neath area           Q2 1958 age 84

Are you a gambling man? T

I don't think the death recorded in 1958 is my ancestor, its 10 years off
The others could be her, I will need to look around to narrow the date down, because I do not want to pay the expense of getting all three certificates when two of them could be wrong

I think you are quite right. Surely they would sell more certificates if they gave a bit more information. I am thinking particularly of death age for earlier certificates. They really are a gamble.
Perhaps it would be more economic to pay Cardiff Record Office to look at original burial records!
Good luck, Toby.
