Arfon:
Huw Williams, the chap who's cross I posted Royal Engineers? He was posted in Beaumaris, I've just found a letter here off him, unfortunately it is not dated.
So Gwill it might very well of been the Engineers that are in front of the gates.

Andy.

have alook at this site plenty of cap badges here
http://www.britishbadge.co.uk/

ive tried  enlarging but im losing clarity ,
andy the badge looks round and from adistance it could resemble royal egineers badge
http://www.britishbadge.com/srs/collect/badges/corps/cor_d/10030a.htm

reading the link to penmon
ive had a good look and read and came across this snippet
1914; Llanfaes; The Anglesey Volunteer Reserves were stationed at Kingsbridge camp, and guarded both the Britannia Bridge and the Menai Suspension Bridge as a precaution against the Irish troubles, which had threatened to flare up into civil war.

will try and look for an image of there cap badge

Andy

Have you checked for service papers for Huw? If there is a service number on the letter. Or a year of birth/placename. I'll have a look. How about Hugh Williams, 8 Cybi Street, Holyhead, father Richard? He was No 6736 in RARE
Some of the RE at this camp were Territorials, the unit was known as the Royal Anglesey, Royal Engineers.(RARE)

The photo in the GWF thread is the aerial one of the trenches that is used in the Penmon site.

Raven has found Huw Williams, Gwil using the service number on the cross on his buriel place, it was only earlier did I notice the service number on the letter to be the same one.
