Dear Listers,
Sarah Catherine Boyce/Boice born October 1844 at Rattery, she had married
Robert Maddock in 1886.

Would love to know if she had any children.
Her father was William John Boyce

Hi I could not locate a marriage for a Robert Maddock to a Sarah Boyce in 1886,where was this information obtained from?

I can locate a marriage of a Robert MADDICK to a Sarah Boyce Sept qtr 1865 Plymouth 5b 448 in the 1881 census Sarah is shown as being born c 1845 Rattery with a large family from c 1866, is this therefore a different Sarah? 1881 census RG11/2179/41/5

If this was the correct marriage it was at St Andrew Plymouth 3rd September 1865

Robert Maddick 21 occ Labourer abode 29, How Street Father James Maddick occ Porter
Sarah Boyce 21 abode 16, St Andrew Street Father William Boyce occ Labourer
Witnesses William Boyce, Richard Newcombe

I did appreciate your very quick reply many thanks.
The "year" someone sent me ages ago was most probably wrong. And have a feeling
you have found the right one being born in Rattery.
Would you mind sending me the details of the 1881 census with the names of their
children. It is often incredible how sometimes a single letter being spellt differently, makes
it so hard to find people.
thank you,
Sieglinde.

Hi the 1881 census is free to search on eg Family Search, but this is the family in 1881:-

Robert Maddick 37 occ Farm Lab b Plymouth
Sarah 36
William 15
James 11
Jane Ann 8
Robert 5
Sarah Jane 3
Alice Maud 1
Residing at Croft Cottage, Rattery
All other than Robert senior born Rattery
As a matter of interest Sarah appears to be still alive in 1911 ( found by searching Family Search)!

PS Sarah Jane Maddick marries a Tom Evans Sept qtr 1909 Totnes 5b 364

Thank you again,
Feel pretty certain that his is my connection for the fact the witness at Sarah's wedding
was Father: William Boyce.
Just some advice now please:
Should I put all the other sibling's queries on one page...or send in a different request
separetly for each of the other children:

William John Boyce born 1834
Margaret Mary.............  1835
Elizabeth......................1837
Charles Samuel.............1840
John Richard.................1847

Their parents were William John Boyce and Sarah Andrews.
Many thanks,
Sieglinde.

Hi would suggest you start a new thread stating could you receive help on locating the marriages etc of these children of William John Boyce & Sarah Andrews, it may be worth mentioning this thread in  case someone thinks you have missed a sibling off your list!

PS also remember the witness could have been her brother?
And also you could have a look yourself for a possible marriage on Freebmd!
