Kwazulu-Natal, finding death records

I found on the Eggsa library a cemetery photo  for a John M. Pollard, who died May 26th,1889, buried in Kwazulu-Natal, Newcastle, old cemetery.

How do I go about finding the death record for him?

On the  archives website they list contact emails, & I sent one to  Kwazulu-Natal Provincial Archives &  it came back unable to deliver it.

Can someone point me in the right direction as where I should be looking for the death record.  Or would there be any place that I might find family members.  I know the names of his children, but not when or where they were born.

Edward Pollard
John Martin Pollard Jr.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Generally the death notice would be found with his estate file at the National Archives, but I cannot find a file for him.

I did find a marriage for a John Martin Pollard who married a Rose Selina Benson in Aliwal North on 26/1/1881.  Not sure if he is your chap or not.

If you give the names of his children possibly that could help track him down.

Yes, that is the same John Pollard.

His children's names are.

Grace Mary  Amelia Pollard
Edward Pollard
John Martin Jnr. Pollard

I have been unable to trace any of the children :(

However I did find a marriage of a Joseph Martin Pollard in Aliwal North in 1882, also at the Wesleyan Methodist Church - could this possibly be John's brother?  The witnesses were John Pollard and Rose ? Pollard.

If this is his brother then there is an estate file at the National Archives in Cape Town.

Yes, John & Joseph were Brothers.

Which one of them did you find the estate file for?  I went on Naairs & couldn't find it.

The KAB next to depot indicates that the file is in the Cape Town Archives.
