Ballyvonare Co Cork
« on: Thursday 18 October 12 11:36 BST (UK) »
I visited Streamhill, County Cork this Summer and saw the house where my mother was born in 1911.  It was amazing to see. The house looked much like the photo I have, taken in 1925.  I have since been told that my mother went to school in Ballyvonare but I cannot find anything about this place other than there was an army camp there. Can anyone help please?

The townland seems to be listed on the index as 'Ballinvonear', it's located about 6km north east of the town of Buttevant, and just suth west of the townlands of Streamhill east & west.

I think it's unlikely you would find that much history or detail on one individual townland, probably more useful to check for the general area, such as the civil parish (Doneraile), or nearest town - either Doneraile or Buttevant.

See : Buttevant, town & civil parish (Lewis 1837)
        Doneraile town & civil parish

The school was actually in the neighbouring townland of Kilcolman Middle

see : Ballinvonear School   (c1910 OSI map)
