Albert Bridge School
« on: Sunday 08 September 13 18:14 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know the exact location of this school?  It was obviously somewhere near Albert Bridge but I suspect it was demolished long ago.

Have you googled.

I have never heard of it.  It could be that it was known by this name but was called something else.

You could contacted the Battersea Archives in Battersea library, number online not to hand

I am assuming you are talking about London...
Fleming (Bristol) Fowler/Brain (Battersea/Bristol)    Simpson (Fulham/Clapham)  Harrison (W.London, Fulham, Clapham)  Earl & Butler  (Dublin,New Ross: Ireland)  Humphrey (All over mainly London) Hill (Reigate, Bletchingly, Redhill: Surrey)
Sell (Herts/Essex/W. London)

Yes, Battersea.

It was certainly called Albert bridge School during WWI.

I will try Battersea Archives, thank you.

I had a very helpful reply from Battersea Heritage Service.  :D

They think it was a private school just west of Albert Bridge Road.

Albert Bridge School was set up by my grandmother, Edith Spencer, for her oldest daughter who was born in 1902. The school was in their family home at 111 Albert Bridge Road and subsequently moved to 11 Brechin Place, SW7. Constant Lambert, Shirley Robinson and children of Augustus John were among the pupils.

Welcome to Rootschat

Thank you so much for that information.  :)

I have an old photograph taken outside the school but was having trouble finding any reference to it.

Battersea Archives didn't know much about the school so I am sure they would be interested if you got in touch with them.
