Hi ros2, Welcome to rootschat and thanks for the information. I wish it was me that was going to Athlone but it will be my sister who is making the trip. I will be giving her all the information to go and check for me. She has no genealogy  research experience so I will have to be carefull not to overload her with things to look for. I have forwaded your comments to my cousin in Sydney who has more of a handle on the Rosscommon side of things.

Hi ros2,
You may  be correct. My GG Grandmother Bridget McManus nee Keough was married to Thomas McManus. I don't have a year of marriage. They had eight children, My G Grandmother being one. She was born 1865. She had a younger brother James, I have no birth or death for James so I can't confirm that he was 30 in 1901 but it's sounds about right. Bridget McManus nee Keough died in  1908 and her husband Thomas died in 1881.

So Ros2, You may have pointed my nose in the right direction.

O.K. This one was just too close not to show you...

Eugenius McManus

Christening:
28 FEB 1858      Roman Catholic, St. Peters Athlone And Drum, Roscommon, Ireland

Parents:
     Father:     Thomae McManus
     Mother:     Brigidae Keogh

Believe it or not, this priest in this church named all the babies and parents this way, with a latin, or whatever ending...so this probably is the same family....
