Jonathan Wild (baptised 6 May 1683 wolverhampton
« on: Monday 13 May 13 01:53 BST (UK) »
Hiya everyone, Im doing some research on Jonathan wild, the famous criminal... and was looking to see if I could find info on his family, I know he had a brother who I think, was wolverhampton town crier at one point, and reading bits about him, he apparently had sisters too... and his father was a furniture or wig maker(depending on which thing you read lol) and his mother worked on wolverhampton market...

Does anyone know anything more of the family members?

and I couldnt find any record of his birth/baptism in wolverhampton (st peters) ...

anyone? anything? lol

I also now know, one of the sisters, married a buckle maker, the other married a comb maker.. but I still dont know there names... I also found out that jonathans son... again, no name.. turned up in London just before Jonathan was exectued, the son was apparently as much trouble as the rest of the clan lol.. and the prison paid him a sum of money to leave to the plantations (in america I believe)

Hi,I have been to the archives, there was just this sheet of paper, which i copied out,it may be of use to you.Its a bit long,so here goes.
From the history of the lives and actions of Jonathan Wild, thief taker,2nd edition-London 1726.
In 1684,of poor, but honest parents, who being the First Fruits of their loves, they made hard shift to put him an apprentice to a buckle maker at B-ham,which so strained the old man that he was afterwards arrested for the money he borrowed,to put him out,and thrown into W-ton gaol, where after a long and tedious confinement,he died and his mother was left with 5 children to take care of,3 sons,2 daughters, one whose name was John, was a catch pole and was whipped for pulling down a meeting house at W-ton,and lost his place, the other was a buckle maker, and lies now in the Poultry-Counter for debt.
Wolverhampton Registers:
Buried 14March1715/16 Eliz,Dau Jonathan Wild
Buried 8 Oct1713 Abraham,Son of JW
Bapt 23June1703,Jonathan,son of Jonathan Wild.
There you are, that's exactly as it was written,No ends of sentences!I hope you get some new clues.Glen
