could the 1851 entry be amongst the parts that were water damaged?
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/Salford/census.html

I can see William East Lear junior in 1851 on FindMyPast and there is a 'synthesised census image', transcribed by Manchester & Lancashire FHS. His place of birth is given as Dublin.

Hi

If you still wish to know why Elizabeth Mary East was born in Edinburgh I think I can help.
However, I need to establish how to confirm that an entry (under whatever surname / reference)
exists in respect of her and her family.
Deal ?

Hi Eastlife

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

Can you explain what you mean? What info do you have that helps with the location of Elizabeth Mary's birth?

Hi

I am new to this site and have come to it because of the William East Lear family.  I noticed someone wants to know why Elizabeth Mary was born in Edinburgh and Sarah Ellen in Nottingham.  If you look at the marriage of William East Lear and Elizabeth Green you will see that William is in the 2nd Dragoon Guards.  Son William and Lucy Ann were baptised in 1831 and their father was still in the 2nd Dragoon Guards.  Similarly I believe he was when Elizabeth Mary (my great great grandmother) and Sarah Ellen were born.  In the Dragoon Guards I feel he and his family would have travelled around the country. Hope this is useful.
