William Ford
« on: Thursday 18 February 10 17:42 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to gather information about William Ford born in St Clears in 1815. His father was a William Ford and his mother I believe was Elizabeth, (Betsy) Howells. William later married Mary Harris in Chepstow in 1840. Any help with his early life or innformation about his parents would be appreciated.

have you looked further down the census page that William & Mary are on in 1841?  On his marriage in 1840, he gives his father as William Ford, postboy and on that census page

Nelson St, Chepstow HO107/745/6 folio 27 pg 5
William Foord 45 postboy
Elizabeth 50
Jane 15
Catherine 13
John 9
James 7
Mary 3
Elizabeth & Jane not born in county, all the others are.

You can get a birth certificate for Mary as she was born after civil registration
Mary Ford dec qtr 1837 Chepstow vol 26 pg 40
which would confirm Elizabeth's maiden name, rather than trusting the submitted info from the IGI. St Clears baptisms aren't online. But there is a marriage of William Ford to Elizabeth Howells 27/8/1816 in St Clears.
