I guess I would have to start with her marriage cert as there are 2 Honor Levys born in the same year in Lancs, I have no proof that the right one was selected already.

Might get lucky and have a full name for her father on there.

You could order this birth certificate, it will be identical to the Levy one but is just indexed differently  ;)

Ordering the wedding cert did not work, they say I need to go to CRO and I am not sure that would have the same detail.

I was unsure about getting the b cert until proving the right Honor it could be my father guessed the Honor from age and rough location but that gives more than one option.

Not sure why you say you can't order the marriage certificate? Perhaps you were trying Lancashire (which only deals with Lancashire)?

You can order any England & Wales certificate from the GRO online for £9.25:

I am a little confused by this.  Surely the right Honor must be the daughter of Lilian Kerman - you've told us that your mother knew, or knew of, Lilian's "eccentric" sisters Kathleen and Florrie.  So the link to the birth with mother's maiden name Kerman is not a matter of your father having stuck a pin in the index and picked one with vaguely the right date & place?

The GRO index only has 2 Honor Levy birth registrations, both in the same quarter.

Birth December qtr 1921
Levy    Honor    (MMN Kennan)    Bury    8c   971
Levy    Honor    MMN Gregson)    Bolton    8c   668

The marriage for Levy/Gregson was probably this one
Marriage September qtr 1902
Gregson    Emily
Levy    John Charles
Bolton    8c   651

The marriage that I posted earlier for a Honor Levy which you said was the wrong one
21 Apr 1945 St Peter, Halliwell
.... Nelson
Honor Levy age 23
Bride's Father John Charles Levy, Pump Keeper

I think that eliminates the Bolton birth and agrees with you that it is the Bury birth  ;)

Blimey, Bury have a quaint olde worlde idea of online that involve a printer and post office, and the GRO claim to take 2 weeks.
