Missing townland from Tithe Applotment Books
« on: Sunday 02 February 14 12:51 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I did post a question on this a long time ago and am hoping that possibly someone new to Rootschat has an answer.
The townland of Stalleen / Staleen in Co Meath is not present in the Tithe Applotment Books and yet I have gravestone transcriptions that mention Staleen and date from 1814 and 1818.

Could Staleen have been part of another townland? I am struggling to find a reason for why this townland is not part of the Tithe Applotment Books.

Can't find you asking about this townland being missing from Tithes but there were at least 2 earlier topic where you've mentioned it-

Only land holdings (argicultural not urban) over an acre are listed-

Have you tried searching by civil parish?

See that you've already asked this question on another forum and received a reply-

most of the parish seems to have exempt  from paying tithes

"but the greater part of the parish is tithe-free"

Thanks - I think that this probably is the reason for it not appearing in the Tithe Applotment Books. When I searched by parish I had no results.

Thanks again!
