1891 Census Look up Please
« on: Sunday 05 January 14 07:22 GMT (UK) »
Horace Morgan and Jane (Janie) Awdry Burnett Heywood married in 1885. I have been sent their listing from 1901 so it is just the 1891 I am after. I am hoping to find a daughter Alice M with them who will have been packed off to school/grandparents/etc for the 1901 census. Horace was a sculptor/artist. I have also been sent their probate listings in 1941 and 1953 so am not after those either.

I did have a quick search to see if I could find a "stray" Alice M Morgan born 1885, but nobody leaps out at me.  Sorry

Grasping at straws here but there is an Alice in Islington June 1891 and Marylebone Sept 1891. This would have made her 16 in 1907. Is there an Alice 9 to 10 years old showing up in 1901 somewhere odd, like a school or as neice/granddaughter.

First of all when was she born and did they definitely have a daughter Alice M or are you just trying to link them together?  :)

OK Jaines probate in 1953 mentions Horace Sidney Dilnot. HSD is born 1899 and marries twice. First to Alice May Granfield/Greenfield in 1918 (varies between A and Freebmd) and again in 1945 to Frances L Peacock.
Alice Morgan marries John Thomas Granfield in 1907 and appears to be having children with him till 1918. John Thomas Granfield was a stoker on the HMS Vaughan which  exploded and went down in July 1917 (843 dead /3 survivors). The only death showing up for Alice M Dilnot is 1940 for a 78 year old which would mean 19 yr old Dilnot was marrying a  56 year. Not likely. But an Alice M Dilnot  is marrying in 1927. So perhaps divorce.
No matter what keys I hit I can not get Frances Morgan  to Frances L Peacock.
Hence my desire to find an Alice Morgan that I can tie to Horace and Jaine

I take it the 1911 census has all children born to a couple. Dang. This family (Heywood) had been sending their kids off to boarding schools since the 1840's hence my thinking only a 5 year old in 1901, would impy with an 1885 marriage, the usual pattern was happening
