Do you mean the marriage in Pontypridd 1907 Alice Morgan/John Thomas Granfield?

That Alice is born in Glamorgan 1886  :-\

Yep thats the one. :D Horace Sidney Dilnot is such an unusual name combination. He was a bookbinder and yet he is associated with Jainie's will. Gladys Morgan is so common as to be a headache. My first thought was he was a grandchild but a birth of 1899 ruled that out. Have had another go to get from Gladys to HSD and am going dizzy :'(

It is hard to follow isn't it  :D

Occupation of Horace Morgan was a bookbinder when living with wife and daughter Gladys age 15.

So because the probate mentions Horace Sidney Dilnot you think he was a relative?  I don't think he needs to be a relative.  Could have been a colleague if he had same occupation.

The marriage in 1918 between Horace and Alice May Granfield (looks more like Greenfield) names her father as Thomas Philips an engine shunter.

The only death showing up for Alice M Dilnot is 1940 for a 78 year old which would mean 19 yr old Dilnot was marrying a  56 year. Not likely. But an Alice M Dilnot  is marrying in 1927. So perhaps divorce.

The 1940 death could be the Alice M married to Harry Dilnot age 49 in 1911 living Herne Bay Kent.
She was Alice Mary Huntingdon married 1890.

Alice M Dilnot born 1904 is likely the lady who married in 1927 - same district in Kent (Eastry)
Groom Hector Langford.

Thanks Milliepede. Just crawled out of bed. Yes that has been niggleing at me from the beginning. I did a post over at Sussex asking if modern wills were archived in England (they are in NZ and can be seen relatively quickly, as well as divorce proceedings, though not so quickly- listed after 30 years ,viewable after 60) So I popped over to England general to ask about 1891 census and you asked the question as to why I was so determined to find an Alice Morgan. With only a single child that I knew about, Gladys could well have passed on by 1953, or just been not good at doing things like executing a will and H.S. Dilnot just been a friend etc.

Hi, I just wondered in what context he was mentioned in the will ? If he is not a beneficiary, just an executor then it is most likely he is probably a family friend, or acquaintance who was deemed reliable enough to be able to administer the estate properly. You may find he has no connection to Janie at all.

True abelmabel but when you have nothing between 1901 and 1953 it was worth a bash to find a family connection. There are lots of Gladys Morgans  :P.

I see that H S Dilnot 1899-1987 has multiple trees at that M site associated with the A site but I am having a bad internet connection day and can not persuade my computer to bring it up. The joys of living in the backblocks of NZ :(
