Hi Alan,

There are no marriage records online for that time frame that I am aware of. Wilfred and Helen appear married on a 1933 passenger list.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1951-23421-29775-67?cc=1916084

They also appear in a 1931 City Directory entry San Francisco California.
Helen Mrs - teacher at public school  - r 174 Ellis
And Wilfred - Archt - r 174 Ellis.

It looks like Wilfred was single on a 9 Jun. 1926 passenger list.  Wilfred J. & Mrs. Helen Prout are listed as living at 118 Dolores, San Francisco in the California voter list from 1928.

Think this may be them in 1940, misindexed as "Brant":

There are some images (not name-searchable from the top page - search for image ) on familysearch in the "San Francisco County Records" set.  Currently away from home and my internet connection is slower than cold molasses, but there does appear to be an index of grooms around the right period - have a look for him there.

There is an obituary in the San Mateo Times from 5 May 1962 for Dorothy Eleanor Cunningham of Burlingame.  She is listed as a native of San Francisco and survived by husband Elmer, 3 sons, parents Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred Prout of San Francisco, and a brother with a different surname than Prout.  Her grave can be seen at findagrave.com

I don't know if there's another Wilfred Prout of San Francisco or maybe she was Helen's daughter from a previous marriage?  Unfortunately, the California death index doesn't give a mother's maiden name for her.

You're welcome.  The California death index has a Helen G. Prout born 10 Jul 1899 in Montana and died 21 Sep 1988 in San Francisco.  Her father's surname was Tonge and her mother's maiden name was listed as Oshannessee.

The 1933 passenger list mentioned above had her date of birth as 10 Jul. 1908.  Maybe she made herself younger?   :-\

I thought maybe Tonge was misspelled, but it looks like it was right.

Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred Prout visited Mrs. Prout's mother Mrs. Frederick Tonge - http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1982&dat=19271024&id=ig4vAAAAIBAJ&sjid=9qMFAAAAIBAJ&pg=1065,4147562

A death record in California for Helen's mother Mary Jane Tonge lists her father's surname as Shaunassy.

Tonges in 1900 - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MM5D-VNV

1910 - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MGVQ-3CY

1920 census has Frederick, Mary, & Helen Tonge in San Francisco.
