Railway Servants Orphanage, Ashbourne Rd, Derby
« on: Monday 02 April 12 16:49 BST (UK) »
Is anyone able to look up in the CDs of their records, details of twins Alfred & William Gibbs, aged 11 there on 1891 census. it seems their father Charles died in 1885 & by 1901 they were independent, so i am looking for 1885-1901 arriving & leaving. they were born in Suffolk. Vol 1 = 1875-1900, vol 2 = 1901-25. Much appreciated.

Sorry, thought it would link.
Here is the copy of the post from Brenda

I have a copy of the Admissions and Discharges 1875-1900 to the above
orphanage. Yes, I know it is not is Surrey, but it took orphans from all
over the country. Two of my Surrey family were there in the 1880s, their
father being a railway employee and killed in the course of his work I
would be happy to do a look-up for anyone who thinks they may have railway
connected orphans amongst their ancestors.

My gr Aunt Ethel May Pomeroy b 1891 appears as a resident of the St Christophers Railway Orphanage, Derby in the 1901 Census aged 10. I would like to find out when she was admitted to the Orphanage. It was probably in about 1894 or 1895. Her father had died in 1892. She emigrated to South Africa in 1910.
Can anyone do a lookup on the Admissions CD please?
Thanks in advance
Martin
