James Robinson
« on: Wednesday 23 April 14 17:12 BST (UK) »
Hi all
Looking for the burial place of James Robinson born Abt 1816 Shirland Derbyshire married Ann Burton North Wingfield, Derby, England in 1840 residence in Alfreton for all his life died 1st Nov 1896 just wondered if there was a general cemetery open by that time or would it be a local church ? Also any help on possible parents only thing I have is his father was possibly named Thomas Robinson born 1794 Derbyshire but there seems to be quite a few to be 100 percent sure.
Thanks Richard

Thank you gives me something to get my teeth into anyone know where I can find burial records for Alfreton, also just noticed the first 2 children of James and Ann are named Thomas & Martha which gives a little more weight to the marriage of Thomas & Martha being a good match

Hi Carol it looks like the Martha burial in Shirland is quite possibly James Robinsons mother as James was born in Shirland the only thing it says on his death record is age 80, District Belper, Derbyshire, volume 7b page 419 I would have thought that he would be on the Alfreton records seeing as he was still living there on the last census of 1891 and according to his will he died at pye bridge Alfreton on the 1st of November 1896, could you look to see if his wife is in the Alfreton records if you don't mind Ann Robinson she died the year before although on her record it says she died 21st of April 1895 and says Pye bridge near Alfreton which makes me think pye bridge is possibly a different village next to Alfreton ?
