Hi Spades the restriction on divorces has been increased, they are now restricted 100 years from last date on file.

Even with the increased restriction the requester can still write to the relevant govt. department and ask to see the divorce papers themselves or someone else do it for them, but it is possible the request could be refused or, more likely, limited information given out. When the restriction was still 50 years I made such a request, and was rung by Justice Dept. staff who said the information I wanted wasn't on the divorce file, otherwise they would have been happy to tell me the information I wanted over the phone. Generally you can request any record before the restriction period ends, I have had mixed success with this over the years, anywhere from seeing the full record I wanted to see, to be being refused outright (this was for a bankruptcy record for a single man who had been dead for over 50 years from memory).
