Marriage look-up please. Village of Conlig
« on: Tuesday 29 May 12 03:14 BST (UK) »
Is it possible to find out if William Gunning and Mary Snodden were married in the Presbyterian Church in Conlig about 1845 and if there are any Gunning children in the register. I have several of the family Baptised at 1st Newtownards Presbyterian Church but cannot find a James Gunning b abt 1854. I am also looking for any other relations of William Gunning and Mary Snodden.
Thanks

Yes. Thank you. Its where I have got all my Gunning information, but my own William Gunning does not seem to have a birth or Marriage Record. I have tried all the Paysites but they aren't there. I wondered if at that time the village of Conlig was closer to Bangor. They might have registered there. But thanks for your help. :)

Conlig is just where it's always been - 3.6 miles from Bangor and 2.8 miles from Newtownards according to Google Maps.
Conlig is in Newtownards civil registration district so that's what will show up in the index on www.familysearch.org.

Sorry, that was silly of me! I have searched FamilySearch, Emerald Ancestors & RootsIreland and cannot find a trace, so I will leave it for now. Thanks!

It's not uncommon to find one or more children in a family "missing" from baptismal records probably due to the fact that the baptism entry would have been recorded later rather just after the event happened. Since birth registration started in 1864 it may be that James Gunning's birthdate/baptismal date will be difficult to ever find.

Hi

There are no Gunning or Snodden, marriages or baptisms in Conlig Presbyterian Church during the 1800's.

I am very interested to know who the person is wanting info on William Gunning from Conlig who married Mary Snodden. The reason is because William is my great x3 grandad.I would love to "meet" another relative.I,too have tried to find a marriage for William and Mary without success, the same with a record of his birth or baptism, however I do have loads of info on  William's siblings and his own family which I'm happy to share if you just let me know where you fit in.
