Pocklington Family
« on: Thursday 26 September 13 14:23 BST (UK) »
My great grandmother was Alice Rebecca Pocklington. I'm told she was connected to the famous baking family yet I cannot find any links even though she was from Louth.

Can anyone help? She was born 1889 and died in Louth in 1953.

I'm related to the other famous bakers the Myers but have at long last found the link!

Hi

According to this, the bakery was founded in 1924 by Cyril Pocklington, so you are going to have to work forward rather than backwards. He was the son of James Pocklington, so that might be a good place to start looking from.

I have Cyril's family tree and Alice's. It would seem that I am going to have to add on a lot more children in order to connect them.

Your Alice and Cyril are 6th cousins 1 time removed, Alice is my 9th cousin 3 times removed and Cyril my 4th cousin 3 times removed  :)

The Pocklington's have been traced back to c1489 to a Robert Pocklington.

regards
Richard

Thanks breakfree! I appreciate that.

Have you a tree online anywhere? I'm doing the connection manually at the moment.

Buck, no sorry i never bothered putting a tree online - i found that when other family members have done it that others have simply just taken their research without any communication or anything and then when they have done so they have gone and mis-reported certain things without getting things straight.

I too had to do the manual research thing - its taken an eon or two but its been fun researching Lincolnshire, i recently had some cousins from New Zealand visit there and they loved it.

Ok mate! I'm on ancestry but still haven't managed to put the link in place. I'm sure I will get there in the end. Thanks for your reply.
