Gravesite .. Aberlady/Haddingto .. Assitance Please .. COMPLETED THANKYOU
« on: Wednesday 27 April 11 10:52 BST (UK) »
Is there someone out there who can assist me please? :)

My great uncle Robert Cowen Lees Bryce a resident of Aberlady died in the Roodlands General Hospital, Haddington on 30.05.1981.

Are there any local death index's or burial registers that can be checked.

I am seeking a photograve of his gravesite which should also include his wife Christina who died in 1992.

Any assistance much appreciated.

Thank you

Alex G

Hi New Zealander

It is not normal practice on RootsChat to 'bump up' posts  :)

Any ideas where I might find the information then?  Perhaps the the burial registers?

You could try contacting the East Lothian Local History Centre www.eastlothian.gov.uk/site/scripts/documents_info.php?documentID=369 and ask for advice. Place of death is not always indicative of where someone may be buried unfortunately.

Hi All,

I notice on ScotlandPeoples website, that robert cow*n l* bryce died in 1981 and was registered in North Berwick, East Lothian. The death certificate will tell you reason for death but not where buried though.

Hi ,
There is a cemetery at Aberlady there is a website for the church itself maybe an email to them might help . The nearest undertaker is  in North Berwick and there is also a cemetery there  perhaps a look in the local paper East Lothian Courier might bring up something if he was cremated nearest would be Mortonall , Warriston or Seafield all on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

Suzilad.

Tom and Suzilad

Thank you for your input.  Have e mailed the church but yet to receive a reply.  Not making progress at all on this one sadly.

Nere the less less will keep on trying.

You might like to try these newspapers the Edinburgh Evening News and the Scotsman the death notice might be in either of them . Both are published 6 days a week. When and if you find out they are buried in Aberlady PM me and I will try and get a photo of a headstone if there is one we sometimes go down that way now and again.

Regards,

Suzilad
