Hi Anne

This may be the family in 1841, from FreeCen:

MCKENZIE John 25 Jrnymn Ropemaker b. Renfrewshire
MCKENZIE Janet   20 B. Renfrewshire
MCKENZIE William 4 b. Renfrewshire
MCKENZIE John 21 b. Renfrewshire

Address: Roxburgh St, Greenock-Renfrewshire

I can't see any children on IGI for them except for Elizabeth b. 1849. Your best route may be through the censuses for 1851/61 to determine what other children they had.

Regards.

That was quick  :) Yes, they definately had an Elizabeth in 1849.  These two have been only one pair of many "deadends" (I think I'm supposed to call them "brickwalls" or something  :) ) in my family history for more than a few years and I thank you for this info.  I just hope that someone recognises these names as part of "their" family history.  I sometimes feel like I am "the end of the line" in my family  ::)

Many thanks,

Anne

Anne

Keep plugging on, if only for your own curiosity. Most people, and I include me (!), seldom make the big connections. Most of the fun (oh yes and frustration) comes from putting the pieces together and making some sense of it.

Good luck.

Hi Monica,

Thanks for that  ;) I have been tracing my family (officially) since 1994 but my wee granny was giving me loads of info for 30 years before that  :) Once started, never given up!

Hi Monica,

Just noticed on your post that you are reseaching the Moran family from Co Mayo.  My brother-in-law is descended from a Moran family in Co Mayo.  His great, great grandmother was a Mary Moran m Myles Gibbons 1864 in Aghagower, Co Mayo.

Regards,

Hi, Thanks for that.  I have Elizabeth and her sister, Janet, my great grandmother but I am sure there are more.  Will check out the John and William mentioned above.
