The LDS / Family Search site has a Joshua Kirkby Baldrey, wife Mary Jane baptising 8 children in the month of May, 1829, in Hatfield. Obviously they can't all have been infants.

Its very possible that your man is the Samuel Kirkby Baldrey shown on May 10th - altho where he and his parents and siblings were in 1841 is a mystery so far.

In fact I see that in 1851 he is married to a Rebbeca - so if this is their marriage, he has the matching middle name to the Hatfield Baptism I mentioned.

Marriages Jun 1844

Baldrey  Samuel Kirby    Caxton &c  14 33
McGhee  Rebecca     Caxton &c  14 33

hope this helps, M  :)

Mort29,

Thank you for getting back to me so promptly.

I can confirm that you have the correct Samuel Baldrey.

I did not know about his middle name.

I did know that his wifes name was Rebbeca.

Thank you for supplying his parents details.

Regards
Keith

In case you havent worked thru the IGI records, there is 'submitted' information (so it needs verification) on his parents marriage:-

Joshua Kirby BALDREY
 Birth -  1754   Cambridge
Death -  06 DEC 1828   Hatfield,Wood Side (maybe why his wife had all the kids baptised in 1829)
Marriages:
Spouse was a Mary Jane Copsey  born c1788, Saxham, Suffolk
  Their marriage -  12 JUN 1808   Cambridge

If she remarried after 1828 and before 1841, might explain not seeing the Baldrey surname on the census?

You can partially verify this by getting the 1844 Marriage Papers.

There is also an entry for "Samuel Baldrey" on LDS for birth 1821

and

a marriage for "Samuel Baldrey" (b1821) to "Rebekah" (b1819, Ely) in 1841 in Ely.

Elvis, if you are still in the building  :P  note that those are 'submitted', not 'extracted' records - so need verification.

I'd say that most of the Baldrey related stuff is submitted by the same person.  :)

Keith(&Mort)

In 1851 HO107/1830 (dist9page42) 42-704
Samuel 30 born Hatfield
Rebekah 32 born Ely Cambridge
are in Marham as SchoolMaster and Mistress together with 3 children.

Jessie 2 born Marham
William 9 born Cambridge
John George 1month born Marham
(Arthur not born yet)

Samuel would have been 20 in 1841 and presumably in (teachertraining) college? In Cambridge? Is that where he met Rebekah?

Is he/are they listed in a college in 1841?

It looks like the LDS entries I sent over earlier are probably the ones to go with, even her name is spelt the same.

Are the next steps yours, Keith?
Birth Cert for Samuel
Marriage Cert
then Birth Cert for Rebekah X (from M.Cert)?
