Cubbon of Arbory
« on: Tuesday 14 March 06 19:14 GMT (UK) »
Just testing the water to see if there are any descendents from the Cubbons out there  ::) My particular family came from Arbory then some went on to Liverpool.
Would be very interested in hearing from those with Cubbon/Cubbin connections.

Here's hoping

I have Cubbons from Arbory, 2 to be exact.  John Cubbon married Jane Juke and had a daughter Margaret Cubbon who was christened on 13 Aug 1774 in Arbory.  Margaret married William Clague 02 JUL 1802  Arbory.  I havent done much research on this line yet so im not sure how many more Cubbons i may have in time.

Hello Erin

The Cubbon line has been difficult to confirm. I cannot rule out some connection, but as yet I have not gone back far enough and don't have solid connections/proof beyond 1800. I have had more success tracing the non Cubbon female lines :-\ Funny really, I never knew any others with the name Cubbon/Cubbin beyond close family but now I find we're everywhere....I don't know if my father's observation that "we're all related" is of any concellation..
I see we share other names too :) I have Cottier, Shimmin, Clague, Watterson, Cain and Cannell.

There's not many Donna. Eleanor (Ellen) Cain born in Lonan possibly in 1852 m John Henry Quine in German in 1878, my connection is through one of their children.
Elizabeth Cain 1842 Patrick m. William Shimmin-here again my connection is through one of their children.
Catherine Cain 1768, Patrick m. William Kewley in Patrick in 1786 their daughter Catherine Kewley m. Thomas Cubbon in Patrick in 1826-I have a direct line to all of these.
My father told me Hall Cain said a few words at a service for my ggrandfather and his son in Arbory in 1873?? I don't know if he did this because of family connection or because of the circumstances of their death
If you can shed any further light it would be much appreciated  ;D

I suspect all Cubbons came from Arbory ! - the name was very common there - pity is that the parish records are a mess pre 1730.

I have wondered that Frances. My father left me with little information, one piece being the family lived in Ballabeg, Arbory for hundreds of years and that we are all related.............
Thank goodness the women brought different names along with their reproductive organs otherwise I'd be nowhere :)

Thanks,

Cubby
