THanks to all those who responded on Richard Baker, Bedwellty.  In the 1881 census Richard was in hospital in London where he was shown as a miner.  He returned to his original place of birth in Clearwell, Forest of Dean following hospital discharge and died there on 8th January 1883. On his death certificate his age is shown as 28years old and his occupation .as a Police Constable.  Cause of death is shown as a.pelvic abcess 2 diseased bowel ( I think this may today be diagnosed as bowel cancer).
