given that they're at different addresses in 1841 & 1851, I wouldn't think that searching from the address would help. Or that getting a death cert would help you to go further back.

Have you tried following William born in Herefordshire to see if you can find a baptism for him?

Yes I have tried William too but I am not sure if there were 2 Williams as there is a really big gap between the children if the 1841 is correct and William is 13 because in 1851 William is 16 so it's either been rounded or they had more children that possibly died. If it's the same William then there are so many possibilities that it's almost mind blowing! The only other thing I can do is possibly try Timothys marriage certificate or try Mary with a birth/marriage but again, such a common name

Thanks for all the advice. I really don't know which way to go now as even though I know Marys maiden name I have no clue where to be looking for a marriage to get parents names as looking at those maps you linked me to, thats a vast area!

do you have Timothy's marriage cert to see who the witnesses are? And what address he gives?

I thought I did but it doesn't appear that I do! Hmm... unless its in an older folder from a few years back that I gave copies of to a relative then I don't. I think I  will apply for another just incase as it won't go to waste if another turns up as I give copies of everything to the elderly relatives in the family as they are unable to research themselves.

He Married Hannah Lott in 1859 in Abergavenny so I at least have the details I need!
