Good heavens, look at this [Fulton Post Cards] 16 September 1911:

"Aged Jeweller Suicide in Flatbush Lodgings.  Frank F. Braillard found dead in room on Church Avenue with gas turned on  -  Police suspect poison also was used.  Sent Note to Friend Declaring his Intention.  In note he left, relatives of wife, from whom he was separated, are accused of ruining his business  -  once connected with Tiffany's  -  coroner to make investigation."

I didn't mention the death because I thought you already knew.  There are several articles, all saying fairly much the same, about this topic.  I wanted to keep the subject quiet.   ;)

I didn't spend too much time looking for this, as it was getting late, but...

I believe there were several of people involved in (making?) jewellery cases in 1859, living near 221 Williams.  I tried searching for the man at 216 Williams (I believe that was his address) in the 1860 census and didn't find him either.  I did find two other people from Williams on the 1860 census and searched back a few pages and forward a few pages, hoping to find Braillard, but it didn't work out, but I only tried a few pages.

If I have time before I leave for work, I can post the other names, in case someone else can have a look, or in case you have access to the 1860 census.  Hope this makes sense - I'm in the middle of getting ready for work and posting rather quickly.   :-\

No, I didn't know about his death.  He's a bit off the track since he was just the father of Francis F. the third who married Grace Boyd.  In fact, Grace herself isn't a close relative  -  she was the grand-daughter of Jane [Conning] Richmond who was a sister of my gg-grandmother.  I guess that makes Grace my second cousin twice removed.  But, hey, I do enjoy following the side trails, so now I'll pursue the suicide and the evil family who allegedly ruined the jewelry business.  But first, I'll keep looking for the Braillards in 1865 to solve the problem of Julius and Henry.

I have found Valentine Boyd with his wife and sons William and Charles in ward 4.  No sign of the other kids so I expect they were dead, at least the youngest, Sarah.  Unfortunately, although their names were listed, there was no information filled in - a total blank.

End of ward 4.  I'm guessing Williams Ave. might be in ward 6.

Ellen Richmond, daughter of Jane Richmond is the great grandmother of my sister-in-law -- she married James Davidson, a florist -- from Scotland.
