If you are interested in the family and friends of the medieval Newburgh family, I invite you to visit
www.worldwidenewburghproject.com

I am currently looking for information about John Newburgh of Dorset who was tapped by Edward IV to be "keeper of the artillery for Caernavon castle, and gunner of all the towns and castles of North Wales for life.”*  He was nominated to this position in 1461 and again in 1468.  I am looking for more information on his tenure.  He died in Dorset in 1497, so he apparently didn't stay for life as implied by the medieval record. *Grose, Francis, Esq.  Antiquities of Wales, 1731?-1791  Vol. VII p. 12.

We are attempting to establish a YDNA surname project for the Newburgh and Westbury families of Dorset/Wiltshire.  To participate an individual needs to be male, with verifiable ties back to the 15th century Newburgh family of Dorset.

The Newburgh project is brand new at this time.  If you are interested in receiving updates, use the contact form on the website to communicate.
