Muircroft/Moorcroft
« on: Monday 16 July 12 21:02 BST (UK) »
Just a shot in the dark.  The girls in the photo are my grandmother Jessie Muircroft and Jeanie Muircroft, on the right is their mother Jane McCulloch Muircroft. Their father was David Muircroft from Keady/Darkly. Grandparents were Robert Moorcroft & Margaret Moffat. They moved to Lanarkshire 1870 -1875.
Trying to find out who the other two women are.
Think the photo was taken in Armagh early 1900.

Sorry I haven't a clue what their names might be.  I presumed that one of them must be an Irish relative, otherwise why travel from Lanarkshire to Armagh to get your photo taken?

In 1901 Sarah and Anny are listed in the census as daughters of David so presumably sisters of Jane? If Jane and daughters made a visit back home to Ireland it they might have wanted a family photo.

Added- rereading your 1st post it's not clear exactly who moved to Lanarkshire in 1870s.

Hi
Very interested in your post on Moorcrofts. My grandmother was Mary Ann Moorcroft and lived in Darkley in 1901. Parents were James and Jane Moorcroft although James is not present at census.
Your photograph is excellent. unfortunately i have no idea who they are but i do see a resemblance in the lady on the right and a moorcroft relative living today.

when looking for mccullagh family in the keady area, i came across a jane mccullagh who married an Aaron moorcroft  16th sept 1845 . still doesn't solve who the lady in the photo is,  but might have connections to your tree.

I just found my great grandparents on the 1891 Census of Scotland.  Their names were James and Jane Moorcroft. They were born in Co. Armagh according to Ireland Census 1901 and 1911 so they were either living temporarily or on holiday in Scotland in 1891. The address was Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland so we must be connected somewhere.

I am still trying to find marriage record and birth records for both James and Jane.
