Needing new eyes please
« on: Monday 25 February 13 21:15 GMT (UK) »
where do I start?
I have a Bridget O'Brien, who had 2 boys (William 1897 & John 1899). She then met William Norton, and they married in 1901.
They had 5 more children: Mary Ann (1901-1901), Thomas (1901-), Peter (1904-1904), Ellen (1906-) & Edward (1910-1944).

There are 2 more .. and I can't find them or fit them in anywhere .....

They were twins ... Sarah & Bridget.  Sarah married a Sammy Lewis, and Bridget (Biddy) married ? Williams.  I know they both lived in Aberbargoed ...

PLEASE can anyone help me try to work out how they fit into this little family?  ???

I initially suspected they were later born children, but I can't find them after 1911 with MMN of O'Brien.  Even though I know the marital partners, I can't find the marriage for them ... I also thought they might be HER Sisters .. but there wouldn't be TWO Bridget's ...  :-\

Confused relatives not making my job any easier here either ....

THANK YOU (my eyes and sanity depend on it .......)  8)

Were William and John illegitimate??  If not and Bridget was married - what was her  maiden name

How do you know that Sarah & Bridget were the children of Bridget & William if you can't find births for them?

A Bridget Norton married in 1936 to David J Williams - have you confirmed her father was William Norton

There is no Sarah Norton/Lewis marriage

Yes, William & John H were O'Brien.  They were born in Wednesbury.  I've applied for Bridget & William's MC to get their Fathers name, then I can confirm the 2 families I found on an earlier census.

I am not 100% whether Sarah & Bridget were Bridget/Williams Daughters, but we are sure they are.

I found that Marraige too, so they were either later births, or his Sisters (and married very late!) . they can't be HER Sisters as you wouldn't have TWO Bridget's ....

I struggled to find their Births too, but I know they exist, because the family told me about them.... I know who they married, and can't find those either ..... so annoying :(

I have found a marriage of a Sarah Norton to a David Lewis in 1905 in Bedwellty but she was 24. Is this the wrong era as I can't find another Norton/Lewis marriage for the time frame  :-X

Thanks .. no, not if Sarah & Bridget turned out to be William Norton's Sisters instead of their children ... I asked another relative last night, but all she can remember of her is that she was "always an elderly looking woman" .... I guess at a young age, it's hard to differentiate between ages ... I know I never could ... 30 was old to me when I was small ... :o
Although they were sure these twins were their Daughters, they could always be wrong .. I am open minded ...

Following on from the fact that they MIGHT NOT be the Daughters, and in fact HIS Sisters ... (According to the census he was born in Birmingham 1857) and I have just found a Bridget & Sarah Norton, born 1886 in West Bromwich ..... I wonder .....

RESULT !!!!
On the 1901 census, there is a Sarah Norton, being born 1886 in Wednesbury (this is also where Bridget O'Brien is shown as being born) .. she is at 4, Square Tir Phil, Part Of Post Office (Dynevor Arms Hotel), ...... Bridget & William Norton are also in Dynevor Row on the 1901 census too ....
now to find Bridget .....
She's 15 .... so probably his Daughter, as opposed to his Sister ...(he is 44)

William Norton was previously married to a Sarah Mooney and lived in Wednesbury, Staffs.  She died in 1891 (aged 35).  They had twin girls, Sarah & Bridget (and Mary, Jane & Annie).
I still can't find Bridget though - I have her aged 5 on the 1891 census, she then disappears ... I'll keep looking  :D
