Wow! Didn't even know this page existed 'til I clicked on it by chance! I'm looking for a photo of Start Point Lighthouse on Sanday Island in Orkney and old photos of lighthouse keepers, trying to get a photo of my great (x3) Grand Father, David Lyall (born 1775). Thanks for reading.

Lighthouses in Scotland are the responsibility of what is now called the Northern Lighthouse Board. www.nlb.org.uk/
They are based in Edinburgh. You could contact them to see if they have any relevant historical material, though older records may by now be in the National Archives for Scotland.

Do you know that old saying Stan - If I had brains I'd be dangerous? - I think that could apply to me today. I didn't even think of putting it into Google Earth - but I will now. Thanks for that.
