Jessie née Davidson
« on: Monday 22 July 13 06:33 BST (UK) »

Am interested in birth record and other of this ancestor of mine-2xgreat Grandmother-one record says Jessie was born in Tain and another says Loggie and Easter;she was born about 1823.  I had difficulty with the viewer on Scotland record (Scotland People), so decided on posting this instead and for the meantime.  Any help much appreciated.
Married name of Jessie was Davies.

Hi

SP shows  2 baptisms around that time for a Janet Davidson (Janet=Jessie)

Urquhart and Logie Wester 22 Feb 1821 d/o Alexander Davidson and Ann Fowler
Avoch 3 October 1823 d/o Donald Davidson

Nothing for Tain or Logie Easter.

Where did you find the original info?

If she died in Scotland after 1855, her deat hcert shouls show her parents' names. Also, census info might give a place of birth.

Thankyou very much for replying to this post.
I have seen a couple of census references to Jessie/Janet Davies/(née Davidson).  One is 1881 Birmingham, All Saints, England.  On this census she is 57, a dressmaker, wife to William Davies, a gardener from Worcestershire, England.  Her birthplace is given as Tain, Scotland. The other census reference is 1901, Edgbaston Warwickshire where she is listed as a 'servant' aged 71 and her birthplace is given as Loggie and Easter, Rosshire and Cromarty (I know the ages here don't exactly match but still at moment think these are one and the same person.)
I need to straighten out one or two facts.  Posting this straightway.

Have you got a marriage ref/cert for them?  This should give her father's name and occupation.

I might have missed something but I don't see her on any other censuses, except the ones you mention. I see the children on the 1881 were born in Birmingham but so far haven't got a definite hit  in 1871 using either Davies or Davidson as their surname. Neither can I get a certain hit on William  :-\

Could William  and she have met up between 1871 and 1881?  Also, how do you know that her maiden name was Davidson?

The name on the 1871 is David Davidson and he's recorded as a boarder rather than father in law.  Jessie is down as aged 41 on that census - i.e. b.c.  1830.

RG10/3097/118/3

I'll check with a wider age range!
