Hi All.   Flattybasher9, yes, those are my Purdons. Alas, Daisybank is at Kilchatten Bay on the other side from St Ninians Bay. Thanks for the Straad mention - I found the Valuation Roll for 1920. Unfortunately most are referred to as house, house cows & grass. No Daisy Cottage and no names that I recognize. Susannah's death was reported by a Robert ??McWeir, nephew, present ( address Battlefield, Glasgow). Another link to try. Have two VRs 1920 for north Bute if anyone is interested. Thanks again.

Hi All.
Monica, I can probably give you the name of the blacksmith, one Daniel Shaw Snr!
My VR covers Straad at the head of the bay only.
 Just found  ....   www.scapetrust.org/pdf/Clyde_Bute/Bute_map8.pdf
Mentions Daisy Cottage South/Daisy Cottage East/Butt Leany Lower. Outside my VR.

Will probably be pushing up Daisy(s), before any names are found.

Alternative name/s for Daisy Cottage East = Greenan Burn

http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/search/?keyword=Greenan+Burn+bute&submit=search

Oh and old spelling!!  Bute, Greenan Burn Alternative(s) Butt Lennan, Butt Leanan fairly certain that's your Butt Leany Lower.

Hi. Thanks Don. I found these later on Familysearch.org whilst 'trolling'. On their version, you can enter your key word in a search box, and it will be highlighted throughout the directory, making it much faster.
I guess that I am at a dead end as far as Persons of Interest are concerned. However I have just received an email from someone that I had contacted, assuming that he was in Bute, only to discover that he is in Western Australia! I will follow his links and post back, should I find something of interest
Thank you to all who have given of their time. It has been most appreciated.

Hi All. Looked at the link I was given to Bute's Sons and Daughters. My McAfee Site Advisor threw a tantrum - phising web site. Took a chance and enjoyed the ' old people's stories'. To send/ask a question, I had to provide all my details and I opted out! What a pity, but can't be too careful.
So, will remain an enigma for the moment. Thanks again to all who took the time to post a reply.
