The Inn at East Saltoun Near Haddington
« on: Friday 18 July 14 16:00 BST (UK) »
Can anyone tell me where the Inn at East Saltoun was located. I have an old 1863 copy of a local Haddington Newspaper that tells of a fight one of my Irish ancestors was involved and I would like to know where the incident took place.

The 6 inch maps would probably give you a better idea but they don't seem to be available at the moment  :(

The 1 inch map has an Inn at East Salton and the 1861 Census has Elizabeth Bell age 64 Inn Keepr.
living 1 East Salton.

Would really need the 6 inch maps to help identify the location.

Is it not the building marked "Inn", on the map?  Now seems to be a private house.

Hi, Yes I saw that one but it appears to be in Fala. My ancester a James Cassidy was a farm labourer living & working at Bughtknowe Farm, Humbie and the report in the newspaper says he was assaulted in the Inn at  Saltoun.
Fala seems to be in the wrong direction.  Thanks again.
